RELATIONSHIP STRATEGIST KENNY PUGH CHARMS HIS HOMETOWN

By: T.MORRISON AGENCY Staff

Last Thursday, our client, "The Relationship Strategist", Kenny Pugh ventured back to his hometown in the Buckeye State - Dayton, Ohio for his much anticipated "Can You Do IT Standing Up?" (CYDISU) book tour and was THE media darling with more interviews than the actual time he would be there.

On Thursday, Pugh interviewed with Vick at The Dayton Daily News and was quite impressed with the level of questions he was asked.  Pugh shares Vick asked questions about Pugh's upbringing and how his parents' relationship encouraged his current viewpoint among other interesting questions. We look forward to getting the published article and sharing with his friends and family in Dayton!

Friday morning, Kenny met with Natasha at WHIO to talk about his inspiration behind the book which led to the idea that he should meet with a group of high school students to inspire them with his personal story of being a 'hometown hero' and the possibilities they have available to them. Oops, school was out, but we hear the interview aired this past Monday and was great!  As soon as we get the footage we'll post!

Click here to see Kenny on Living Dayton shortly after his interview at WHIO, which sparked some real intrigue from the co-hosts!

He also got a chance to hang out with Garth at 92.1 and the Femme Fatale "CRUNK" radio show with his college friend Rich along with Lady Kootore and Nedra that was hilarious!

Pugh's events were very successful and attracted crowds and fans where he showed up.  We're very grateful to Cameron and Natasha at WHIO, Garth (92.1), Rhonda (Living Dayton), Meredith & Vick at Dayton Daily News, Kevin at Columbus Black and the team at Femme Fatale Radio Show!

Was I the Only One Clueless to the Brilliance of SXSW?

On Friday’s broadcast of the Greenlight Project, our radio show, my co-host, Rochelle brought up the happenings of SXSW taking place March 12th – March 21st.  Prior to that, she’d mentioned it a few months back and it was the first time I’d ever heard of such an event. SXSW is apparently one of the largest interactive music, film, computer and innovative technology conferences in the United States.  Celebrating it’s 23rdyear, it first began in 1987 and is centered in downtown Austin every spring.  This year, media entrepreneurs, techno-geeks and the worlds most innovative minds descend upon Austin, Texas for nearly 10 days of information, music and film previews, making deals, partying and discovering the next Google andTwitter empires.  23 years?  Where the hell have I been?  Am I the only one that has been clueless to the brilliance of SXSW?
In 1994, SXSW added film and interactive conferences making way for brands like Kodak and AT&T to use it as a branding platform while attracting a strong following among web creators and entrepreneurs like TwitterWordPress, and Foursquare.  Foursquare took to the conference this year by bringing to life its virtual city and offering the experience in 3-D, how cool is that?  With its popularity growing by leaps and bounds (I recently asked my intern to get on the horn ASAP to inform us what in the devil is this thing called Foursquare), it’s becoming the new Twitter and I’d predict, with this showiness at SXSW, it’s bound to have the Twitter-world all a-buzz about its brand, thereby increasing its value 10xs over.  With its focus on emerging technology, SXSW has earned the festival a reputation as a breeding ground for new ideas and creative technologies.  For instance Twitter launched at SXSW in 2007 and has completely revolutionized the way we communicate online as well as has redefined the term “relationship building”.  Twitter has since birthed ...continue reading

The PR Saga: Featuring Chris Brown & Rhianna

As a publicist, I often wonder about my fellow publicists – specifically Chris & Rhianna's publicists as they try to figure out how to manage this crisis PR situation. I can only imagine it's daunting at best, but a statement of "She's doing well, thanks for asking" is not really saying anything.

The media is now saying they are back together, that she is pregnant, that Chris really doesn't want her, that she's 'head-over-hills in love' ...blah, blah, blah....can we get some real truth from the sources? I'm just saying...

The public wants to know what's really going on – hey, they are in the PUBLIC'S EYE and LOVE the attention when it's making them lots of money. I say, since you're profiting on my attention when it works for you, then I at least need a decent answer as to what's going on.

Not only that, here's a chance to really shine in the face of tremendous adversity as a publicist. Some things I would do are:

  • Seek out an "exclusive" with a few trusted sources in print, TV or radio
  • Put out an official blog and let the fans know that you know they are concerned omitting twitter and Facebook as sources
  • Have an answer for media speculation - quickly
  • Make some phone calls to organizations, businesses, etc. and work to partner by being a voice of reason, an advocate, etc. to soften the blow
  • Last but not least, keep it moving the best way you can with your head held high

When you're in the public eye, it's hard to deal with a private situation publicly, let alone in actual privacy when no one seems to understand you need time and space to come to grips with things.

Nonetheless, they are someone's clients, but they are also people.

Fellow publicists, what do you think? How would you handle such a crisis?
