The Wendell Show was a great experience and opportunity for not one of our clients, but for TWO of our clients!  Relationship Strategist,Kenny Pugh and Black Bride's Mary Chatman had the great opportunity to be guest appearances on The Wendell Show this past Monday, February 6, 2012.  

The experience was phenomenal! Being a single Christian woman here in Atlanta, GA I love hearing the male perspective on relationships with a biblical stand point. Also, Black Bride's President, Mary Chatman had the studio audience excited by giving them a recap of the 2nd annual bridal showcase and gave them great ideas about that special day.  With notes from Kenny and Mary I will be sooo ready for that Man and Wedding Experience! J  These two clients truly are two hits so make sure to tune in to see their interview; dates coming soon so make sure to continue following. 

Well as we all know the celebration of LOVE is around the corner!  Now many singles, such as myself would love for this day just to pass by and because of that Kenny wanted to do something special for the Singles here in Atlanta.   He will be hosting an evening of true entertainment at The Cup Café filled with excitement, laughter and special drinks sponsored by Godiva Liqueur! On top of that we will be graced by the presence of Comedian C. Davis and The WEDucator - pique your interest? Well, get your tickets now because we are almost sold out! 

Now, rejoicing in the month celebrating African Americans, the “Real” Tuskgee Airmen will be honored on Saturday, February 11th at 2pm co-sponsored by  The Central Library here in Atlanta, GA and T.MORRISON AGENCY.  With the new movie Red Tails released what better way to get their story out then during a month when we are celebrating the accomplishments of African-Americans!  Zellie Rainey Orr, National Historian will lead the panel and will sign her book "Heroes in War" (pictured below being held by Tyler Perry) and will be joined by Tuskegee Airmen, Mr. Val Archer & Black Fighter Pilot, Mr. Ed Lewis. Come out and see the documentary "Double Victory" just released on "The History Channel" and meet their families. Hear from these men about their experiences and get even more than what we learn about in our history classes. I know I will be there with my camera and autographed book!

Well, I'm glad you asked!  Let me just say, it's been an exciting ride!

Black Bride's 2nd Annual Bridal Show was a HUGE success and it was a privilege and honor to be part of such a ground-breaking concept!  Thanks to all the media that came out and showed us pre and post love.  Special Thanks to: E. We've also hired a new PR Associate!  Portia Rice comes to us by way of Vegas but was a former intern that graduated from Clark Atlanta in 2011.  It warmed my heart to get a personal call from Portia asking to come on-board as an associate.  She has been - by far - one of the best intern's we've had and it was an honor to welcome her back on board! I also had the pleasure of meeting the infamous Afrobella creative-brain of the phenomenal Patrice Yursik and the ever funny oh-so-beautiful Actor, Comedian & GODDESS, Kim Coles! They were both featured speakers at Fro Fashion Week that took place in Atlanta. Patrice invited me and my client out to the VIP party to meet her and Kim and it was FIYAH!  I'm so happy we finally embraced in person. You.ROCK.Period.com Patrice! The Wendell Show out of Athens on the campus of UGA (University of Georgia) has so graciously hosted many of our clients these two months as guests of their season finale! Kelli Sasser says she felt “compelled by Christ” to help the people of Rwanda rebuild their lives. During the Rwandan genocide in 1994, nearly one million people were killed in one hundred days – nearly 20 percent of the country’s population. The government and military both supported the genocide, and the small African nation was left in shambles.

Fast-forward to 2003, when Rwandan pastor Simon Nziramkenga met Sasser and her husband Scott, a university physician, and explained how access to healthcare was a dire issue. Thus, the nonprofit One Hundred Days was born. While Sasser’s focus is on building a hospital in Kigali, her ongoing mission is to provide healing to the people of Rwanda – physically, emotionally and spiritually.

PINK: Where did you acquire capital to start your organization?

Kelli Sasser: Almost all of our funding comes from friends and family members who have “caught a vision” of how we can offer our core values to people who are in life-threatening need. Our core values include trusted partnerships, sustainable solutions, holistic transformation, passionate service and transforming beauty. Friends fueled by trust and friendship have helped build a community – here and in Rwanda. We have had several multi-thousand dollar gifts, but the majority has accrued in very small donations closer to $100. We have raised more than $300,000. Click here for the full story.

RED TAILS - A Film About American COURAGEOUS Heroes

Last night I had the privilege of escorting a Tuskegee Airman, Mr. and Mrs. Val Archer to the Atlanta pre-screening of Red Tails in Jonesboro (south of Atlanta).  What an honor for me to be in such a glorious position - I really don't know how I qualified but I am grateful to have been chosen to have met such upstanding citizens - to experience the deep gratitude, respect and humility they exude.

I was among the most prestigious men and women.  National Historian, Zellie Rainey Orr was the speaker and of whom I have the pleasure of calling a client!  Ms. Orr along with Mr. Archer was featured on CNN with Ms. Fredricka Whitfield in November and Mrs. Whitfield and her husband was in the audience as was many other media notables.  There were several pilots there - in failing health as they are well into their 80's and 90's but still with such strength!  The descendants of Booker T. Washington and Fredrick Douglass were there and talk about jaw-dropping, I was just pinching myself that 'lil ole me' was sitting in the front row with Tuskegee Airmen of whom (not to my knowledge) I have any kinship to.  It was not red carpet glitz and glam, it was truly a time where these men and women had a chance to experience what their obedience in such a time of strife, disregard and disrespect earned them - a Hollywood film! WOW, LOOK AT GOD!

Watching this movie affected me on so many levels - it made me very proud to be an American, to have family that have served this country (My Uncle Joe) and to stand even taller as an African-American, that despite the ridicule and disrespect we had to encounter on a daily basis by our White brethren and sistern, we still had their backs.  What a dedicated people we are! What a strong and courageous human race we are!

My hope is that our children - all of them - can look at this film and stand taller for being human and KNOW that COURAGE has NO COLOR!

It takes COURAGE to be willing to do the right thing when everyone else seems to get away with so many wrongs.  It takes COURAGE to love when the risk of rejection is staring you in the face. It takes COURAGE to move forward to accomplish greatness in the face of so much adversity.  But when you MOVE forward with COURAGE you can accomplish the IMPOSSIBLE and BE THE CHANGE you wish to see.
