PREMIER ACADEMY CELEBRATES 40 YEARS

By: Tamika Morrison/1st Lady of PR

On March 24th, our agency was busy managing all of three client events/activities - it was truly an exciting day that ended on a sweet note with the celebration of Premier Academy's 40th Anniversary Celebration Gala.

The event took place in the heart of downtown Atlanta at the Loudermilk Center. A classy affair, Executive Director, Cindra Taylor looked radiant anticipating addressing the well-dressed crowd of esteemed professionals in early childhood education that came out - not only to receive awards for their tireless dedication providing exceptional early childhood education - but to celebrate Premier Academy for being such a great example of how exceptional an early childhood education is the foundation upon which future educational successes is dependent upon.

Former pre-schoolers turned doctors, CEO's and accomplished men and women returned to say "Thanks" to Premier Academy for a great formative education. And Ken Ford surprised the crowd with his appearance to receive his award while we were viewing his video acceptance speech. That was such a moment - a proud moment for me personally! It was culminated by a dynamic performance by Ken Ford Foundation 14 year-old virtuoso, DeMarkus Davis who wow'd the crowd with his rendition of "King of Strings" Ken Ford classics off his latest CD, State of Mind.

A Tale of Two Birds

Recently I saw two cardinals. A male and female and I was awestruck.  Not because I saw the cardinal, although, seeing one should be a gleeful reminder of the miracles in the world around us, but I was awestruck because it was the first time I'd ever seen a pair...together!

I believe God uses the sight of this particular bird to communicate with me.  It began our way of communicating years ago, so when I see one, it's not out of the ordinary, rather, it's quite ordinary for me.  It's my constant reminder of goodness, mercy and favor available to me at any given moment.  But this time...seeing the cardinal "partnered" I wasn't sure what it meant, all I know is that it signified something BIG, something meaning 'double!' It has to!

It was quite significant since I was leaving a meeting that was a pretty big deal with a woman by my side, who by all accounts, is a pretty big deal. So I KNEW it meant something very meaningful.  I was stuck in 'awe' for at least 5 minutes that seemed like 10 or 15 because those birds paraded themselves so gloriously allowing my business acquaintance and I to experience their presence and remark how unusual it was to find them in such an odd place.  We both acknowledged the significance of the moment and claimed it as evidence of BIG things and "Double" victories to come! Stay tuned (Big Smile!)

So in the spirit of "Big" and "Double", I share with you the great accomplishments of our client, Mrs. Linda Cox, an author and humanitarian who's been given her fair share of goodness, mercy and favor - and RIGHTFULLY so!
Author & Humanitarian, Linda Cox

Linda is the author of the children's book They Had to Run, which tells the real-life story of her Rwandan friends Simon and Kedress Nizramakenga.  Having had to escape the early rumblings as orphans of what became known as the Rwandan Genocide, Simon and Kedress returned to their native land as adults helping to build restoration in Rwanda and their partnership with Linda, her family and friends, they created the nonprofit organization, One Hundred Days, which is dedicated to helping to rebuild Rwanda, namely, through the construction of the first pediatric hospital in that region.

We are grateful to all of the wonderful media partnerships they have garnered the past couple of months and wish to share their accomplishments with you.

Atlanta Tastemaker Magazine Launches to Perfect Appeal

This past Friday, I was honored to attend the launch of the newest magazine in Atlanta, Atlanta Tastemaker Magazine.  A magazine dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of Atlanta's entrepreneurs, social innovators and community motivators with their inside stories of who they are and what inspires them to keep this city culturally relevant and diverse. It was at a very beautiful location - Rooftop 866 at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Atlanta. The people that attended were magical and gave it a really nice and fun energy!

I had the pleasure of meeting the Founder & Publisher, Tiffini Gatlin about two months ago at a client's launch party and we stayed in touch! I even had the great opportunity to write a couple of articles for the magazine's Fall Family issue. Editorial Director, Alisha Gordon, was extremely instrumental in helping Tiffini with such an amazing launch and you could tell Alisha was exhaling from all the hard work by the way she laughed, loved and worked the crowd Friday night! It was her birthday as well, so happy birthday again, Alisha!!

Cancer Got a MAJOR Hat-titude This Weekend

We were honored to participate in the 2nd Annual Big Hat Brunch hosted by All About Me Mixer, founded by community leader Ms. Jerika Head of Atlanta in her annual celebration on Sunday, June 26th to give cancer a big attitude adjustment during Hat-titude.  This year, the event was hosted by by V-103’s Sytonnia Moore, and Atlanta’s favorite foodie, Grace Lee, with a special "Ask the Doctor" panel led by T.MORRISON AGENCY client,  renowned cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Nathaniel Johnson, III of the health and aesthetic Hello Beautiful Center located in quaint Vinings.

In 100 degree temperature at the beautiful Pampered Salon & Spa in Castleberry Hill, attendees sipped on Victory H20 water, signature drinks courtesy of Ciroc, Rock Star Energy Drink, hat fashions by La Hattiere and delicious bites by Bridge Catering.

“Hat-titude is an education and awareness event that gives men and women a platform to rally in the support of the fight against cancer,” states Jerika Head, founder and CEO of both the All About Me Mixer and Hat-titude events, “What makes our event unique is that we highlight all forms of cancer because the disease is not just limited to the ones we hear all the time, like breast, cervical, prostate, etc. We expose all forms, for both men and women, and we do it in style!”

And boy, did these ladies and gents show up in style!  The hats were bold, courageous and beautiful, just like those who are familiar with the fight against cancer!

Special recognition to Dawn Kamara of Coffee Talk with Soy, Holly Clay (Sheen Magazine), Atlanta Tastemaker Magazine, Talking with Tami/11 Alive and Stephanie Clark (Essence.com).
